Unexpected change and challenge is part of life, and we face it on both individual and societal levels. From the far-flung extremes of war-torn Aleppo to the pandemic’s effects right here in the Roaring Fork Valley, conflict and disruption are universal to the human condition. We hear that humans are resilient, but it’s not a given. How do we cultivate resiliency for ourselves and our communities so that we can thrive and flourish, even amid unprecedented change and challenge?
Join Laura Bartels, executive director of the Mindful Life Program and an educator with 17 years of experience in the field of mindfulness, for a presentation on building resilience. Laura will discuss the scientific bases and practical actions for improving resilience, with tie-ins to “The Beekeeper of Aleppo” and the challenges faced by its protagonists.
Laura’s presentation will be 45 minutes in length, followed by a 15-minute Q&A period. Afterward, participants are invited to stay on for a 30-minute break-out room conversation to unpack the presentation and interact using guided prompts.
